SUMMARY:Interfaith Vigil for Earth Justice - November 2025
DESCRIPTION:Interfaith Vigil for Earth Justice \n\n\n\nIn silence – We resist greed and indifference.  We stand with the suffering.  We pray for earth repair. \n\n\n\nAs members of various faiths\, we are called to stand together in silence for and solidarity with our Earth at this time of climate chaos and environmental devastation driven by human greed and indifference.  We call out and resist federal policies that have reversed the progress made in addressing climate disruption and the ruthless steps of the current administration to monetize Earth in our name.   \n\n\n\nJoin us at one of our monthly Interfaith Vigils for Earth Justice on the first Monday of each month (except in Sept. when we will meet on Sept. 8) 12-1 PM at the U.S. District Court building\, 385 W. Broadway.  Please wear black if you can–and if standing for 40 minutes will be difficult for you\, feel free to bring a folding stool.  This event is open to persons of faith and no faith–do join us!! \n\n\n\nWith the severe reduction in clean energy initiatives\, a rollback on many of the plans that would help meet California’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2035\, and new proposals to increase oil and gas drilling that will harm wildlife and add to pollution of the air and water\, we are compelled to respond.  This vigil is one of the ways that our faith calls us to public witness. \n\n\n\nOur Vigil is sponsored by the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice.  For more information contact Phil Petrie at phil@icejsd.org.  \n\n\n\nSave the date! SUMMARY:November Hands in Soil: Project New Village
DESCRIPTION:We continue our Hands in the Soil program with this Saturday\, November 15th opportunity with Project New Village (PNV) at the Mt. Hope Community Garden\, 4269 Market St. (Upas & Market).  Please join members of ICEJ and friends of PNV from 9-11 AM for a morning of gardening activities and meaningful\, light-duty work.  Project New Village will supply gloves and tools but bring hats\, water bottles and sunscreen. \n\n\n\nProject New Village is a grassroots\, resident-led movement focused on providing good food\, building stronger neighborhoods\, improving the local food supply chain\, stimulating collective investment in better health\, and maximizing the impact of investment to address social inequities. \n\n\n\nHelp create health and build equity in communities that need it the most!  If you have questions or are available to volunteer\, please contact Susan Cass at \n\n\n\nSusanPannierCass@gmail.com.  Thank you & see you at the garden!

DESCRIPTION:2nd Annual Thanksgiving for the Earth: An Interfaith Prayer\, Song and Kite Day \n\n\n\nEverything that we give thanks for in this season of Thanksgiving flows directly from our earth and the ecosystems that sustain us.  We of the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice wish to show our gratitude for our beloved planet with our 2nd annual outdoor interfaith gathering on Sun. Nov. 23 from 2-4 PM at Ski Beach Park in Mission Bay – 1600 Vacation Rd\, SD 92109 (on the east side of Vacation Island).  We will offer prayers from several faith traditions\, listen to the music of Kol Tefillah\, and fly kites after decorating them with earth friendly words and images.  Bring your own kite (as earth friendly as possible with appropriate decoration) or fly one of the FREE kites we will provide.  Some light refreshments will also be provided.  Please join us and bring the whole family!! \n\n\n\nAnd for those who would like to order their own kites\, we recommend the Simple Rokakku kites that can be found here \n\n\n\nRain date – Sun.
