INTERFAITH COALITION FOR EARTH JUSTICE

ICEJ advocates for climate and environmental justice both in policy and in the public square. We are a volunteer organization serving to educate, equip, and mobilize faith communities to advocate for environmental justice. As leaders and clergy from many faith traditions, we share the mandate to care for and protect all of creation, to love our neighbors, and care for the most vulnerable.

Writing to your politicians is one of the things you can do to advocate for ending the use of fossil fuels. If you any have questions about how to have your voice heard, send us a message! 🌎❤️

Many of us feel let down by the climate policy res Many of us feel let down by the climate policy results coming out of the UN’s COP 26 (Conference of Parties) meetings but some progress was made. In order to understand what further progress we might expect in the coming years and what we will need to do to make that happen, a look at developments from Paris (2015) to Glasgow (2021) is in order.

Rev. Peggy Clarke was at both conferences as a Unitarian Universalist delegate and she will share her observations and insights with us in the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice’s second Advancing Earth Justice talk on Wed. If you are attending the Rally (see info below) I have a couple of housekeeping items which I want to get out to you because we are not doing any pre-registration on this event:

- Please wear a mask--we need to be safe and create a safe space for everyone
- There should be parking (there was plenty when I scoped it out this past Monday) but of course it is even better to carpool, take public transport or bike.
- Bring signs about climate, climate justice, no fossil fuels, etc. if you have them. We will have some there but perhaps not enough for everyone.
- If you are coming with a particular faith community and have a banner, bring it.
- And bring the usual--hats, sunscreen, cameras/phones etc to take pictures.

DM us if you have any questions!

As persons and communities of faith, we call on th As persons and communities of faith, we call on the County Board of Supervisors to craft the best Regional Decarbonization Framework possible. It must directly address those changes that we need to mitigate climate change, find ways to mandate these changes, and do both while advancing the welfare of environmentally impacted communities. All of this must be done speedily because, as the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report demonstrates, climate impacts are reaching catastrophic levels. Our faiths teach us that hope has the final word but without action, hope is empty.
