LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We remember and honor the Indigenous people of the world, especially those of the unceded land of the Kumeyaay peoples that we now occupy. This region was stolen from them. Despite the efforts of colonization and genocide, they remain resilient and connected to their traditions. We give thanks for our Indigenous sisters and brothers with us still, and express our gratitude for their witness in maintaining stewardship of the land through traditional practices and a high respect for mother earth, and on how to live a life that is honorable, humble, and one with creation. May we always remember that the Earth does not belong to us; that we belong to the Earth, and that we are all relatives in life.
Let us all be accountable to each other to learn from our past mistakes however grave, to do our best to rectify these mistakes, to dedicate time to learn about the history and cultural practices of our Indigenous siblings, and be instruments of tangible justice and peace for the Indigenous inhabitants of this land.
